Chipotle supports employees in fulfilling their civic responsibilities, including serving on a jury. If you’re summoned for jury duty, you may be eligible for leave to attend as required by law.
This page provides an overview of Jury Duty leave. Pay and eligibility may vary based on your position and applicable state laws.
Employees may take leave to serve on a jury when summoned by a court of law.
Chipotle complies with all applicable laws regarding jury duty leave.

Jury Duty leave may be paid or unpaid depending on your position and applicable state laws. If you receive compensation from the court and also receive pay from Chipotle, you may be required to remit the court payment to Chipotle, unless prohibited by law.
Your benefits may continue while you are on leave. To maintain coverage, you are responsible for paying your portion of the premiums for any plans you’re enrolled in.
If your leave is unpaid, you may need to pay your share of benefit premiums directly. You may also choose to cancel coverage during your leave. If payments are not made on time, your coverage may be canceled.
If you return to work, any unpaid premium amounts will be repaid through payroll deductions over time until the balance is fully repaid.
Let your manager know as soon as you receive your jury summons to help plan coverage during your absence.
Be sure to provide your jury duty summons and any required documentation. Timely submission helps ensure your leave and pay are processed correctly.
We're looking forward to seeing you back!
If you decide not to return to work during your approved leave, you should notify your manager or HRBP at least two weeks before your scheduled return date. If you do not return or attempt to return to work following the end of your leave, you will be considered to have voluntarily resigned as of your leave end date.

Some states provide leave benefits you may be eligible to receive. If your leave involves a medical leave or FMLA request, our leave administration partner The Hartford may help identify whether state benefits apply and guide you on next steps.
If eligible, you may need to file a claim directly with your state. Chipotle leave benefits and state benefits may run at the same time and are coordinated so total payments do not exceed 100% of your pre-leave earnings.
